Alaafin Condoles Former Ogun First Lady Yeye Daniel Over Mother’s Death

The Alaafin of Oyo and the Titan of Yorubaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Engineer Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1, has described late Chief Sabainah Ibironke Opawole (née Osoba), mother of the former Ogun State First Lady, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, as a truly worthy mother and a jewel of inestimable value, whose strength and unwavering dedication should not go unnoticed.
He stated this in a condolence message through his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye.
Late Mrs Opawole died on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 93 after a brief illness.
“Born on April 23, 1933, to Princess Mariam Ladigbolu of the revered Ladigbolu family of the Oyo Kingdom and the late Rev. O. Osoba of Olodo Village, Abeokuta, the late Princess Sabainah lived a long and graceful life anchored in faith.
Alaafin said “” even in moments of exhaustion or heavy burdens, late Chie Opawole’s impact was profound,gas she was the heartbeat of her home, and the love and sacrifices she poured out shaped futures in ways that are deeply cherished””.
According to him, “” To a phenomenal mother and a jewel of inestimable value, your quiet sacrifices and endless love were the foundation of your family. Even on the toughest days, your strength shined brighter than any challenge, as your hard work was seen, your love felt, and you were appreciated beyond measure””.
Oba Owoade pointed out that just as a virtuous woman is far more precious than rubies, that was exactly what the late Mrs Opawole was, adding that her faith, resilience, and motherly devotion were a true blessing.

While commiserating with Yeye Olufunke Daniel, and the family, Alaafin. prayed God Almighty to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest and also to let her labour of love be eternally valued.
