Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has continued to lead in results emerging from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election as uploads to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Result Viewing Portal crossed 95 per cent.
As of 12:43 a.m., results from 3,582 of the state’s 3,763 polling units had been uploaded to IReV, representing 95.19 per cent, leaving 181 polling-unit results yet to appear on the portal.
The figure represented a further increase from an earlier update in which 3,576 polling-unit results, or 95.03 per cent, had been uploaded.
An analysis of the results available on the portal showed Adeleke maintaining his lead with 505,332 votes, representing 52.37 per cent of the votes captured at that stage.
The All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, followed with 431,226 votes, representing 44.69 per cent, while the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, had 16,583 votes, or 1.72 per cent.
The figures placed Adeleke 74,106 votes ahead of Oyebamiji based on the results analysed at the time.
Voters across Osun State’s 30 local government areas had gone to the polls on Saturday to elect a governor for another four-year term, with Adeleke, Oyebamiji and Salaam among the leading candidates in the contest.
As the figures continued to emerge, supporters inside the Adeleke/Accord Party Situation Room were seen jubilating and chanting praises, apparently buoyed by results being received through their own monitoring channels showing the incumbent governor ahead.
Videos and reports from the situation room showed an atmosphere of celebration as supporters followed the ongoing collation.

There were also claims circulating that activities at the APC Osun Situation Room had reduced significantly after information suggesting Oyebamiji was trailing began to emerge. However, there was no official statement from the APC confirming that its situation room had been abandoned or conceding the election.
Despite the celebrations among Accord supporters, INEC had not officially declared a winner of the governorship election at the time of filing this report.
The figures available on IReV and those collated independently remain provisional until the statutory collation process is concluded and the Returning Officer formally announces the final result.
With 181 polling-unit results still outstanding on IReV as of 12:43 a.m., attention remained on the remaining uploads and the official collation process that will determine the eventual winner of the Osun governorship election.
