Sufuyan Ojeifo
Sixty is more than a birthday. It is an opportunity to measure a life not by the years lived but by the values consistently upheld.
For me, Sufuyan Ojeifo has always represented one enduring truth: credibility is earned in the small decisions long before it is recognised in the big moments.
Across the newsrooms he has served, the institutions he has strengthened, and now through The Conclave, OJ has demonstrated that integrity remains a journalist’s greatest asset.
In a profession where reputations can be built overnight and lost just as quickly, his has endured because it rests on character. His word carries weight because it has never been treated lightly. His influence stems not from volume but from trust painstakingly accumulated over decades.
To be clear, beyond the accomplished editor, publisher and strategist is a man who values relationships, keeps faith with friends, and never loses sight of the larger purpose of service. He has shown that it is possible to pursue excellence without sacrificing humility, to build networks without compromising principle, and to disagree without diminishing others.
As OJ joins the league of sexagenarians, I celebrate not only what he has achieved but also the example he continues to set for those who believe journalism should illuminate rather than inflame, unite rather than divide, and serve the public with courage and fairness.
Happy 60th birthday, my dear friend. May the wisdom gathered over six remarkable decades continue to inspire your pen, enrich your leadership, and strengthen your service to our profession and our country. May the years ahead prove even more rewarding than those behind.
