The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night tactical operation.
According to security sources, the victims were rescued after sustained intelligence-led efforts and increased operational pressure on the suspected kidnappers. The operation, which reportedly took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, brought an end to several days of captivity.
Mrs. John-Paul and her sons were abducted on June 3, 2026, while travelling to drop the children off at school. Authorities have not officially confirmed whether any ransom was paid.
A source within the police disclosed that two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun battle with operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the criminals.
The Police Force attributed the successful rescue to coordinated surveillance and targeted operations, describing the development as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and improve security along affected routes.
Further investigations are ongoing.
