The Ekiti State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, has announced that the second flyover in Ado Ekiti will be commissioned by His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Adebayo made the disclosure during an interview with journalists in his office in Ado Ekiti.

According to him, the commissioning ceremony will take place at the Ijigbo Flyover, in front of Ecobank, at 10:00 a.m. and will attract top government officials, Traditional Rulers, community leaders and other dignitaries from within and outside the state.
The commissioner called on opinion leaders, religious leaders, traditional rulers, Iyalojas, Iyalajes, market associations, youth groups and residents of the state to come out in large numbers to welcome the Vice President and witness the commissioning of the landmark project.
He said the flyover project was conceived and executed by the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as part of efforts to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety and transform the state capital into a modern and economically vibrant city.
Adebayo noted that the completion of the project demonstrates the commitment of the state government to delivering quality infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of residents and stimulate economic growth across the state.
The commissioner appealed to residents and motorists for their understanding and cooperation during the commissioning ceremony, noting that temporary traffic diversions would be implemented around the Ijigbo Flyover, Little by Little Plaza and adjoining roads to ensure the safety of participants and the smooth conduct of the event.
He explained that vehicular movement within and around the commissioning venue would be restricted and diverted before and during the event. Motorists coming from Adebayo, Ojumose, Basiri, Fajuyi and other adjoining routes are advised to follow alternative routes as directed by traffic management personnel.
Adebayo added that officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), security agencies and traffic management officials would be strategically deployed to manage traffic and ensure free movement along designated alternative routes.
The commissioner urged members of the public to comply with all traffic regulations and cooperate with security and traffic officials throughout the exercise. He assured residents that normal vehicular movement would resume immediately after the commissioning ceremony and expressed appreciation for their patience, understanding and continued support.
The commissioner commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to infrastructural development across the state, stressing that the administration would continue to deliver projects that improve the welfare of the people.
It would be recalled that Governor Biodun Oyebanji initiated the flyover project as one of the legacy projects of his administration aimed at addressing traffic challenges, improving transportation infrastructure and enhancing the socio-economic development of Ekiti State.
