The Nigerian Correctional Service, Yobe State Command, has declared a convicted inmate wanted after he fled the scene of a road crash while being transported to Damaturu.  The public Relation officer of the command, DSC Abdullahi Adamu, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 said the escaped inmate identified as Dahiru Mohammed, is considered dangerous.  According to the statement, the incident occurred on April 13, 2026, when the vehicle conveying inmates from MSCC Potiskum to Damaturu got involved in a road traffic accident.  The command warns members of the public that harbouring a fugitive is a serious criminal offence punishable by law.  The command urges anyone with useful information on the fleeing inmate to take immediate action by reporting to the nearest police station or correctional facility. The general public is hereby notified that the Nigerian Correctional Service Yobe state command has confirmed the escape of an inmate from the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) Potiskum, the statement read “The escaped took place on April 13, 2026, when the vehicle conveying inmates from MSCC Potiskum to Damaturu got involved in a road traffic accident.  “The unfortunate incident occurred while efforts are being made to rescue the affected accident victims.  “The individual whose picture is hereby attached, managed to flee the scene of the accident. “Name:-DAHIRU MOHAMMED Age: 30Description:- Convicted Prison number:- J/1539/24Date of admission:-29/11/24Case number:- ybs/dt/hc/27/24Address:- Askiwari village via tarmuwa.Tribe:- FulaniLast Seen Along:- Potiskum – Damaturu Road “Public Instructions: The escaped individual is considered is dangerous and members of the public are advised not to have any personal dealings with him. “If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of this individual, or if you spotted anyone suspicious near the site of the accident on the Potiskum-Damaturu road, please take immediate action: 1.
