Asaba residents confronted a man after he was seen publicly flogging his wife. The wife was carrying her baby when the husband took the baby from her and began flogging her with a long twig plucked from a tree. An eyewitness is heard condemning the man’s action while filming the beating. The voice is heard saying that the woman is already bleeding from the nose due to the beating. Soon, there is commotion as the husband is confronted and he apparently charges at the person filming, causing the camera to go out of focus for a while. In the interim, sounds of blows can be heard. “Make una leave am,” a female voice believed to be the wife of the man is heard pleading. When the camera becomes steady again, residents are seen hitting the man, until he fled on foot. The woman, whose nose was bleeding at this point, got into her car with her baby as the men continue raining insults on her husband.
