Badagry LG Is Committed To Women Development — Chairman Development

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mr Olusegun Onilude, says his administration will continue to be tirelessly committed to the development of women in the council area.
Onilude said this during the third Badagry Women Symposium organised by the council’s Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department on Wednesday in Badagry.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the event was entitled: “Family Values”.
According to him, if you empower a woman today, the whole family is secured for a lifetime.
“The projection is the projection of values and since women are the homemakers, they are the projectors of values.
“It is when we empower women that determines what they take home to build values desired by our society,” he said.
Onilude said that the 2020’s theme of the symposium, tagged “Women Beyond Today”, chronicled the indispensability of women in our today and tomorrow.
“With all conviction, I dare say no women, no tomorrow. As women are empowered, our tomorrow is secured because women are the custodians of destiny.
“The change we desire not only begin with us, it begins with women,” he said.
Also speaking, Mrs Ramota Onilude, the Chairperson of the symposium and wife of the council chairman, urged women to give quality attention to their children.
According to her, parents should always ask questions to ensure the worldview upheld by the children is healthy for a greater Badagry and Nigeria at large.
“At the core of the family is a woman. women are not only productive but also constructive.
“To be a woman is to be a catalyst of family values and there is a plethora of ways to fulfill this mission,” she said.
Prof Basirat Oladipupo, Guest Speaker at the symposium, said that empowering women could benefit human development and society overall not only in developing countries but worldwide.
Oladipupo, a lecturer at Department of Human Kinetic and Health Education, Faculty of Education, Lagos State University, said in most parts of the world, women fulfill many traditional roles such as mothers and carers.
She called on women in Badagry to wake up and take the political mantle of leadership of the council.
Oladipupo said that women can do better in politics as they constitute a very significant and indispensable portion of the population across the globe.
Mr Sejiro Asokere, Badagry Council Manager, commended individuals, organisations and NGO that donated different gifts for women in the area.
NAN reports that gifts such as grinding machines, sewing machine, fans, coolers, refrigerators, deep freezer, electric stoves and others items were gifted to the women through raffle draws.
