The Plateau State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Daniel Nanlong, has announced the official return of its legislative activities to the newly renovated permanent assembly complex in Jos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that lawmakers had been conducting plenary sessions and other legislative functions at a temporary chamber in the old government house.
The decision followed a motion by Mr. Joseph Bukar (APC/Shendam) during Tuesday’s plenary, noting that the completion and inauguration of the renovated complex by Governor Caleb Mutfwang eliminated the need to continue sessions at the temporary location.
The motion received unanimous support from the lawmakers, who expressed optimism that the new facility would provide a conducive environment for effective legislative work.
Speaker Nanlong affirmed the resolution, appreciating the legislators for their patience and cooperation throughout the renovation period.
In other business, the Assembly passed the first reading of a bill proposing the establishment of the Plateau Institute for Advanced Legislative Leadership and Democratic Studies. The bill, sponsored by the speaker and other members, seeks to enhance legislative capacity and promote democratic governance in the state.
