A fire incident razed some shanties in the Maza-Maza area of Lagos on Monday.

A shack located on the grounds of the warehouse where COVID-19 palliatives were first looted in October 2020 was razed, while some shops, which doubled as living spaces were also incinerated.

A victim, Alhaji Isa, who owns the shack said he was ill and had been receiving medical treatment when he noticed the fire.

He said, “I have not been feeling well and was on drip inside when I observed the fire coming from outside. I called my children to see the fire and managed to move all the younger children outside the house.

“I came out only with the clothes on my back. Someone just gave me these slippers.”

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

Men of the Federal Fire Service, Festac were on the ground to put out the fire.
